Hydrostatic drives are an excellent choice for power transmission under a wide variety of vehicle drive applications. They offer a high efficiency method of delivering power when variable output speeds are required. A typical hydrostatic configuration includes an electric or gas motor that drives a hydraulic pump. The fluid flow from the hydraulic pump is used to drive one or more motors that are directly or indirectly connected to the vehicle wheels.

This app provides a full calculation set of pump, motor and vehicle performance parameters within the drive system. User can enter known or required values in any order to have all unknown values calculated.

There are a total of 24 parameters that can be entered / calculated. The parameters include:

- Pump/Motor Volumetric and Mechanical Efficiencies
- System Pressure
- Pump Drive Power
- Pump / System Pressure
- Pump Displacement
- System Fluid Flow
- Pump Torque
- Motor Torque
- Motor Displacement
- Motor Speed
- Motor Power
- Number of Drive Motors (Parallel Configuration)
- Vehicle Service Weight
- Wheel Diameter
- Travel Speed
- Motor to Wheel gear ratio
- Wheel Speed
- Wheel Torque
- Surface Grade
- Rolling Resistance
- Drawbar Pull

As the user enters known or required values, the unknown values are automatically calculated.

For example, if the known values and requirements are:
- Drawbar pull of 500lbs
- Vehicle travel speed must be 15 mph
- Wheel Diameter is 12”

From these values: Wheel torque, wheel speed, motor speed, motor torque, and motor power can all be calculated. User could then continue to enter a pump speed and system pressure. A full solution of all variables will then be calculated for the vehicle. Entered values can also be modified to experiment with system configurations. User could then change the wheel diameter from 12” to 10” to see how that changes the vehicle solution.

Results can be copied to clipboard for exporting to e-mail, message, or other methods of documentation.

Calculations can be done in either metric or imperial units.
